About our instruments
What does it mean by being an authorized retailer
- We have an authorized retailer certificate or number from each brand we sell.
- All our guzhengs are from the brand’s factory directly, and never from any other agents or retailers.
- All our guzhengs are brand new out of the factory, unless otherwise marked as used or for rent.
- Retail price range is strictly regulated by the brands. We do not mark down or up the price on our own in order to compete with any other sellers.
- We are subject to penalties from the brand if selling the instruments at the wrong price or competing with other authorized retailers in an unhealthy way.
As an authorized retailer, these are the things we do NOT do
- Negotiating a cheaper price to get our guzhengs from a third party agent or retailers in China, then reselling it here
- Getting any minor-flawed guzheng for cheaper then fixing it up and reselling it as brand new.
- Marking up the price outside the range of what the guzheng is worth.
- Getting any guzheng at a much cheaper price from a friend or through other means, as part of a personal gift or for other purposes, then resell it if it’s taken directly from the factory.
Other things we do not do
- We do not work with generic wholesale guzheng factories and brand our own guzhengs. Being able to play guzheng and confidently judge which guzhengs I like better does not make me capable of branding my own instrument as if I know how to craft the instrument and understand all the science behind it. The very good brands took decades or even the experience of generations to reach this far. I'm not able to responsibly brand my own guzheng with the same quality and value.
- We do not handpick guzhengs from factories, because
- It’s not very realistic to fly to factories in China and handpick guzhengs on demand.
- It’s not very realistic to predict and pick all the guzhengs I’m going to sell in a time period and plan a trip to china to pick out each one of that.
- A good brand should have strict quality checks in terms of construction and sound quality/characteristics. All the guzhengs they provide me should have very high quality already, so I should not need to go handpick the better ones. If the brand is not able to meet that standard, then I do not sell it.
- For sound quality, it should be fairly consistent for the guzhengs within the same series or made from the same material within the brand.
- We are aware that no two instruments will have the exact same sound, and sometimes people would like to hear that we handpick the “better” ones for our shop. My thought on this is that as long as the sound characteristics are fairly consistent within the same series of guzheng, the rest is on the very subject opinion of which sound you like better. As a music shop, I can only put my effort into making sure our guzhengs are very well made and are consistent in quality. If you are able to drop by our shop, or would like to listen to the guzhengs side by side through videos, let us know which ones you are interested in, and we will make that happen. just because I personally like one over another, doesn't mean that you would feel the same.
