Guzheng soundboards are made from paulownia. Bent-soundboard construction (折板筝), carved soundboard (面挖), and fully carved construction (整挖) describe how the body is made; construction alone does not determine quality. 古筝面板采用泡桐木；折板、面挖与整挖是制作方式，并非品质排名。
